Helicon blend neo-psych-rock with sitars, electronica, ambient soundscapes and irresistible grooves to take psychedelic music into fresh, new territory. Channelling their love for 60s counter-culture and eclectic, global music influences to create a modern and distinctive sound.

The band was formed by brothers John-Paul and Gary Hughes in East Kilbride, Glasgow. They signed to Fuzz Club in 2017 and have released 3 studio albums, 2 live albums, 2 EPs and 2 stand-alone singles to date.

They will record their 4th studio album in summer 2025 at Mogwai’s Castle of Doom studio in Glasgow.

Over the last few years, the band has been regularly heard on BBC Radio 6 Music and previously collaborated on recordings with Tony Doogan (Mogwai / Delgados / Belle & Sebastian / David Byrne), Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spiritualized, Dead Skeletons), Mark Gardener (Ride) and LA-based DJ/producer Al Lover.

HELICON is a rotating collective of musicians: John-Paul Hughes, Gary Hughes, Declan Welsh, Anna McCracken, Graham Gordon, Mike Hastings, Mark McLure, Billy Docherty, and Seb Jonsen.
